What is a public invoice link?
A public invoice link is a unique URL that allows your client to:
- View their invoice
- See itemized details
- Check totals and taxes
- Download a PDF copy
👉 Clients do not need a Maplr account to access it.
Important: Account vs free invoice generator
Public invoice links are only available for invoices created inside a Maplr account.
- ✅ Maplr account users → public links are automatically generated
- ❌ Free invoice generator users → public links are not available
👉 If you're using the free generator, invoices must be downloaded or shared manually.
How public invoice links are created
When you create or send an invoice inside your account:
- Maplr automatically generates a unique link
- The link looks something like:

maplr.ca/i/abc123xyz
👉 Each link is tied to a specific invoice.
How to share an invoice link
You can share the invoice in multiple ways:
- Send it via email through Maplr
- Copy and paste the link manually
- Share it via text, messaging apps, or email
What your client sees
When a client opens the link, they can:
- View the full invoice
- See line items and pricing
- View taxes (GST, HST, PST, or QST)
- Download a PDF version
- Check invoice status (e.g., unpaid, paid)
Security and privacy
Public invoice links are:
- Unique to each invoice
- Not publicly listed or searchable
- Difficult to guess
